Becky & Ben | The Tithe Barn
Wedding Photography Highlights

On Sunday just gone I headed back up to North Yorkshire for Becky & Ben’s Wedding Photography at The Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey! What. A. Day! We started things off with the ladies over at a lovely little cottage they had booked out at Olicana Park in Addingham, just a 10 minute drive away from their wedding venue. All morning Becky was surrounded by her 5 bridesmaids, her full of life Nan, and her little niece that wasn’t too keen on getting in her dress which made for a really fun morning. Mum and Nan was preparing lunch in one room, hair and make up being done in another, and Becky’s sister was on wedding dress ironing duties in another (the pressure to not burn it would be way too much to get me doing that! ha). With so much going off it made for a really fun morning of photography!

We found time for me to pop over to The Devonshire Arms for some pre-wedding photography of Ben and his Groomsmen hanging out with some of their guests, having a nerve settling ale before heading over to The Tithe Barn (you’d be forgiven for thinking they’d been sponsored by Copper Dragon Brewery from the photos I took ha).

The Ceremony and Reception was all held in the insanely amazing venue that is The Tithe Barn. Sharron, Lou, Tom and the rest of the team were simply amazing, working with me to ensure we all knew exactly what was happening when and making for a seamless day.

After a lovely string trio from Grazia Strings played Becky down the aisle there were two performances by some of their family too that I really loved! It’s things like this that you don’t get at every wedding and I loved how it made the ceremony extra personal and special.

After all of the guests had made their way onto the terrace area that looks over the Bolton Abbey ruins Becky and Ben joined them through a tunnel of confetti as official husband and wife! After a good amount of mingling and once the Tithe Barn team had swiftly turned the room around all of the guests took their seats ready for the feast to begin. I’ve never been to a venue that does wedding food to this caliber. The chefs at The Tithe Barn are a talented bunch and you can see for yourselves exactly what goes down in the kitchen with their huge glass wall. There aren’t many venues that let a photographer have free rein to go photographing around the kitchen! Becky and Ben had sorted me out with some grub too that went down a treat - thanks guys!

We used some time that we’d put aside to go for a little stroll in the evening sun and capture some really relaxed couple portraits of the pair. First we popped over to the hill side that looks over to Bolton Abbey and then to the lovely driveway that leads into The Tithe Barn. Just like me, Becky and Ben were much more into having photos of the real moments that happened at their wedding day, but still wanted to have some couple shots. I always love getting some of these, but never like taking them away from their guests for too long. It was a fun 15 minutes of just capturing them both being themselves together, with just a little direction here and there, and then we headed back in for the speeches!

I proper loved these speeches! All three speeches had that perfect mix of entertainment, humour, and emotion, which made for some cracking shots! I’ll try and not go too Partridge with this bit, but I just have to say the microphone/speaker system that The Tithe Barn supplies for speeches is so good! All I mean is that everybody in the venue could clearly hear what everyone was saying, but you’d be surprised at the amount of venues that haven’t quite perfected this magic yet! Weird compliments about tech aside, it was almost time for the first dance!

Monstaball Rock was the band of choice to keep the dance floor filled all night long and they didn’t disappoint! These guys were awesome! They’re a lively bunch that made sure everyone was up on their feet dancing along to their awesome set list and even took some requests - whoever it was that requested Queen ‘Don’t stop me now’, good call! Becky and Ben danced their little ol’ socks off, but the attention was cheekily taken away from them by their super cute little niece bobbing around the dance floor! I honestly wonder if she’s still there now she were enjoying it that much - definitely a big fan of the Monstaball band! Some credit needs to be given to one of Ben’s groomsmen, Tom, for giving me a literal hand by holding one of my speedlites behind Becky and Ben during their first dance and giving us the backlit the shots you can see further down - cheers Tom! The fire pits had now been lit on the terrace and plenty of pizza was going round, perfect for a little pit stop before heading back to the dance floor!

Honestly, what an incredible day it was. Thank you so much to Becky & Ben for giving me the privilege to photograph your big day! You two are clearly made for each other and are going to have one amazing life together!

Enjoy browsing through the highlights from this amazing day!
