A Perfect November Wedding at Middleton Lodge
Middleton Lodge is one of my absolute favourite venues in North Yorkshire, and Ruth & Conor’s wedding at the Main House & Garden Marquee was just incredible from start to finish. For a November wedding, you couldn’t have asked for better weather - still, overcast, and just the right temperature for guests to enjoy every moment without worrying about the cold.
One of the things that makes Middleton Lodge so special is how homely and welcoming it feels. The estate has this effortless flow, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes everyone feel at ease from the moment they arrive. There’s even a kitchen where the incredible staff are on hand to make guests a fresh coffee in the morning - a little touch that never goes unnoticed (and definitely appreciated by me as the wedding photographer too!).
A Relaxed Morning in the Bridal Suite
Ruth spent the morning in the bridal suite, surrounded by her bridesmaids, sipping champagne and soaking in the excitement. One of the things I love about Middleton Lodge is how effortlessly everything flows - the bridal suite leads straight out to the top of the grand staircase, which made for such a cinematic moment as Ruth stepped out, ready to make her way down to the ceremony.
And speaking of stunning moments - her bouquet was unreal! A gorgeous mix of deep magenta, rich berry tones, fresh eucalyptus greens, and soft ivory hues that perfectly complemented the elegance of the day.
A Ceremony Filled with Love & Laughter
The Main Hall was packed with guests, lining the staircase and balcony to witness Ruth & Conor’s vows. You could feel the love in the room - it was intimate, heartfelt, and beautifully personal. Their vows had everyone completely drawn in, and I don’t think there was a dry eye by the end.
As the newlyweds stepped into the courtyard, they were met with cheers and a flurry of confetti - such a joyful, unforgettable moment! After that, guests headed inside to the Main House for a relaxed drinks reception, enjoying cocktails and canapés in the warm, inviting spaces before moving into the stunning Garden Marquee for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.
Effortless Celebrations in the Garden Marquee
The Garden Marquee looked absolutely magical, with its warm lighting, flickering candles, and elegant floral arrangements tying everything together. The speeches were a real highlight - so many emotions, from belly laughs to teary eyes. You could tell how much these two are loved by their family and friends.
One of the things that stood out to me most was just how seamless the whole day felt. Middleton Lodge has this way of making everything flow effortlessly, so couples can just relax and soak it all in. And that’s exactly what Ruth & Conor did - they were completely in the moment, laughing, dancing, and just loving every second.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Middleton Lodge
Every time I photograph a wedding here, I’m reminded of why it’s such a special place. But beyond the beautiful venue, it’s the people that make the day. Everyone was so welcoming, and I loved having little chats with guests throughout the day - it always helps everyone feel comfortable around me, which makes for the most natural, relaxed photos.
